TIAH joins Hawai'i Coalition Against Legalized Gambling

The Interfaith Alliance Hawai'i has joined the Hawai'i Coalition Against Legalized Gambling.  It is a grass-roots organization of more than 50 groups representing religious, youth, small businesses, social service, and civic groups.

As members in the Hawai'i Coalition Against Legalized Gambling, we are most grateful for the strong support of the Honolulu Police Department.  They warn that legalized gambling would require more police, and increase social costs suicide, fraud, crime and embezzlement.  State costs could rise at much as $3.00 for every dollar of income received from gambling.

We know that that often those who push hardest to legalize gambling in Hawai'i represent the gambling industry because they will profit.
